The course prepares a student to undertake automotive mechanical diagnosis on their own and be able to overcome technical difficulties with practical and economical solutions through the development of hands-on skills that differentiate you from the rest and make you more employable!

A student at the end of the course is required to submit reports and conduct real-time diagnosis, problem identification and repair to get their certificate.

This course is exclusively for students who are looking to add skills to their eligibility, looking for a career switch or planning to start their own business. In order to gain the certificate, 10 units must be completed for this qualification.

  • Carers openings to taking up jobs in the following positions:
    • Automotive Heavy Vehicle Master Technician

  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • Successful completion of Academic Year 11 (High School Certificate (HSC) or equivalent) OR a Certificate III or equivalent
  • English language requirements:
    • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum score of 5.5
    • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) Internet-Based Test must have scored 46 or higher
    • Pearson Test of English (PTE) must have scored 36 or higher
    • Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) ESOL test must have a score of 162 or higher
  • Evidence that English is the medium of instruction at the student’s school and has been for the last two (2) years. The student has a satisfactory grade in the language
  • Completed (within the past 2 years) in Australia in English: substantial component of AQF level 4 or higher
Note: If the candidate does not have current proof of one of the above listed English Language Tests, they will be required to take an English Placement Test administered by Vocational Careers Institute (VCI). The student’s Education Agent can manage the English Proficiency Exam on behalf of VCI.
  • Eligibility criteria for Australian permanent residents:
    • Minimum 18 years of age
    • Successful completion of Year 11, (High School Certificate (HSC) OR equivalent) 
    • Candidates undertaking the Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis must have completed an Automotive Mechanical Certificate III qualification, or be able to demonstrate equivalent competency
Note: Students need to demonstrate proficiency in English and a basic understanding of Maths. For students who cannot produce documented proof of their academic and English language proficiency, will be required to attend a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Test prior to a place being offered in the course
